Mehrdad completed his Ph.D. in Molecular & Human Genetics at the University of Houston in Texas in 2006. His work focused on the molecular basis of genotype/phenotype correlation in peripheral nerve diseases. He continued his postgraduate training at Baylor College of Medicine in the laboratory of Professor James R. Lupski. His primary research here has been determining the mechanisms involved in differential angiogenic responsiveness using genetic approaches.
